What is hodling and how does it work?

What does it mean to be a Hodler?

Being a HODLer means that you are a cryptocurrency holder and HODLing means that you are holding. Don’t be mistaken –– “HODLing” and “holding” are not exactly the same! Holding simply implies that someone owns bitcoin and you probably hold it for at least mid-term. If someone HODLs, then you don’t sell your bitcoin anytime soon.

What does Hodl mean in cryptocurrency?

“HODL” is a misspelling of “hold,” referring to the buy-and-hold strategy among cryptocurrency investors. The “hodling” strategy helps investors avoid realizing loss from the short-term volatility of cryptocurrencies and gain returns from long-term value appreciation.

What is a Hodl strategy?

Typically used by Bitcoin maximalists, a HODLing strategy is similar to the conventional buy-and-hold investing strategy. HODL may also refer to the HODL token on cryptocurrency exchange Binance's Smart Chain. Users can earn rewards in Binance coin by depositing their tokens in a liquidity pool.
